People who have cystic fibrosis (CF) require routine airway clearance to help keep their lungs as healthy as possible.  Over the years advances in the life expectancy of patients with cystic fibrosis can be directly related to advances in the treatment of the pulmonary disease associated with CF.  A major cornerstone of cystic fibrosis treatment, and the gold standard of airway clearance, has been chest physical therapy (also called CPT, chest PT, chest physiotherapy).

Since 1975, Chest Physical Therapy Services has been helping people in Massachusetts and surrounding states with cystic fibrosis, and other pulmonary diseases, to accomplish the task of regular chest physical therapy.  Our physical therapists go to their patients’ home at a time of day that accommodates school and/or work schedules, and we provide a chest PT program that follows the guidelines established long ago by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Our program has had success in reducing the number of days that CF patients require hospitalization and i.v. antibiotics.  This cost effective protocol is funded by most major insurers in Massachusetts.
